This message indicates that eXtyles failed to fully uninstall during the uninstall process, and you will need to manually uninstall the remaining components and delete some registry entries. This requires Administrator permissions and should be done carefully, ideally with the supervision of eXtyles support or an IT technician. Inera is not sure why this occasionally occurs, but there is a fix. Note: Follow these instructions carefully, because removing the wrong registry entries can interfere with other applications.
- Uninstall any eXtyles components you can from the Windows Add/Remove Programs control panel.
- Delete any remaining eXtyles folders in C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86), or wherever you had eXtyles installed.
- Open regedit and select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
- Search HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE for "eXtyles" (you do not need to include the quotation marks). Note: It may take several minutes for the computer to find the first entry, but after that you should be able to use Find Next to quickly locate the subsequent entries.
- Delete ONLY the entries described here:
The "Inera" folder: under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432NODE\Inera (delete the entire Inera folder on the left)
Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432NODE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall there will be an alpha-numeric folder that looks like this (Note: the alpha-numeric string is different on every system):
Delete that alpha-numeric folder.
After deleting these registry entries, check the Windows Add/Remove Program list of installed apps. If eXtyles is still listed there, please contact eXtyles support, as this means there are additional registry entries that need to be deleted. If eXtyles is no longer listed as an installed program, then you should be able to reinstall eXtyles.
