If you see an error message that reads "omnivm.exe has stopped working," and the eXtyles ribbon is inactive, please try the following:
- Restart Word.
- Confirm that the eXtyles ribbon is appearing.
- Then bring up the Windows Task Manager and look at the Processes tab.
- Confirm that omnivm.exe is listed. If it is not, please review the following possible causes.
Remove omnivm.exe from Virus Scanner quarantine
During updates, some virus scanners quarantine omnivm.exe, a critical eXtyles file, as “malicious” due to their updated definitions. If you don’t see omnivm.exe in the directory C:\Program Files\eXtyles, follow your antivirus application’s instructions for removing this items from quarantine.
Ensure read/exec privileges on C:\Program Files\eXtyles
Re-install eXtyles
