You can install and run eXtyles on a computer running either 32-bit or 64-bit Windows. However, only 32-bit Office is supported for eXtyles builds lower than 5143 (December 19, 2022). If you try to install an eXtyles build from before December 19, 2022, on a computer running 64-bit Office, you will encounter an error message or your computer will crash (for more details see here).

For this and other reasons, you may need to check whether you have 64-bit or 32-bit Microsoft Office installed. Here’s how:

Step 1 is to open Word (or another Office program, such as Excel) and create a new document.

Step 2 will depend on your version of Office. If you aren’t sure whether you are running Office 2010, 2013, 2016, or 2019, it may help to look at the logos used for Office programs, including Word:

2010

2013

2016

In Office 2010:

Go to File>Help, where you will see the following:

In Office 2013:

Go to File>Account>Product Information, where you will see the following:

and click About Word to bring up the version information:

In Office 2016 or Office 2019:

Go to File>Account>About Word, where you will see the following:

And click About Word to bring up the detailed product information:
