Edifix can fully parse and restructure reference entries for journal articles, books, and book chapters. If it encounters an entry of a type it doesn’t recognize as one of these (e.g., a reference to a website), it will move on to the next entry without parsing it; that’s an unparsed entry. If Edifix can tell that the entry belongs to one of its parsable types, but can’t fully parse it (e.g., because it contains too many unrecognizable elements), it will get as far as it can before moving on to the next entry; that’s a semi-parsed reference.

Edifix can also parse, but not restructure, entries for conference papers. Because these entries are not restructured, they will show up in gray in your results.

What about references with an author-supplied DOI?

  • If Edifix can revalidate the DOI, whether or not the reference can be fully parsed, the reference is shown in black, the DOI is hyperlinked, and the reference is billable.
  • If Edifix cannot validate the DOI and the reference was not fully parsed, the reference is shown in grey, the DOI is not hyperlinked, and the reference is not billable.
